Eagles Nest
While not a tourist attraction John Turchin's Eagles
Nest is a destination worthy of the Western North
Carolina High Country. Saying Eagles Nest is a new
development in Banner Elk is like saying the Beatles
were a nice little rock band from Liverpool. Eagles Nest
springs from the earth as if it was meant to be there,
or had always been there, simply invisible to the naked
eye until someone had the courage to make it visible.
While John Turchin of Turchin Properties is already
world-renown for his creative and imaginative work,
Eagles Nest stands in a league of its own as a
monumental work of art.

Valle Crucis
Nestled high in the Appalachian Mountains of North
Carolina is a peaceful rural community that has stayed
untouched over the years. When Levi Ives, the second
Episcopal bishop of North Carolina, visited the area in
the 1840s he looked into the valley from a hillside,
noticed three streams forming the shape of a St.
Andrew’s cross and deemed the location Valle Crucis,
Latin for “Vale of the Cross.” Pronounced valley
crew’sis, the bucolic area was first formally
settled over 200 years ago and is a place that
historians and visitors alike have called "uncommon."

with superb restaurants and shopping. A major
preservation effort has been in place for the past
decade to protect the proud historic heritage of the
village and maintain the community character that so
enhances this little town.
