Lodging • Elizabeth Vining

A 2^nd floor corner room on the front of the farmhouse, overlooking our side garden with gazebo and the vegetable garden and valley across the road, Elizabeth Gray Vining is a favorite of many guests, especially during the "fireplace" seasons. The walls in Vining are the original pine paneling of the farmhouse and project a warm glow. It retains the charm of the old wood, with a bright feel. Amenities include a ceiling fan, fireplace with gas logs, large upholstered reading chairs, table, queen bed, private bath with claw-foot tub shower. Room air conditioner in summer. Aunt Josie Mast, besides running the house and managing the vegetable garden and dairy, was a master weaver. She turned the original log cabin into a loom house and became celebrated for her coverlets, rugs, and handbags. Some of her coverlets are in the Smithsonian today.
